Abolition, Liberation, Solidarity...A Discussion

Abolition, Liberation, Solidarity...A Discussion

Saturday 4/13 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM

Here4TheKids RVA is delighted to present Abolition, Liberation, Solidarity, a new speaker series at Humble Haven Yoga. We will explore the links between various oppressive systems, gain insights on how abolition and liberation can play a role in your daily life, and discover the power of solidarity in dismantling these systems that perpetuate inequality.

To ensure everyone can fully participate, complimentary childcare will be provided on-site (there is an option to add childcare when purchasing a ticket).

Our discussion will take place from 4:00-5:30pm on Saturday April 13th with Saira Rao, cofounder of Race2Dinner and Here4TheKids, moderating. Her panelists will include:

Taylor Scott, founder of RVA Community Fridges. An African American woman of Cherokee and Seminole descent, born and raised in New Orleans, she and her team provide fresh local produce to our communities, especially those that have been systematically redlined and are historically food apartheids.

Fayeruz Regan, a Palestinian American writer. When not advocating for Palestine, she's the lifestyle blogger for Ladies and Linens and has a column in North of the James magazine.

Tiffany Goodman, a licensed therapist who has worked with children, teens and families in communities, schools, outpatient settings, and the detention. Her work includes DEI consulting, trauma informed care, and restorative practice.

For our April 13th event, 100% of your ticket price will directly support two local organizations:

Here4TheKids: an education movement committed to confronting global systems of oppression, including issues related to guns and fossil fuels

Challenge Discovery Projects: promotes social and emotional wellness for children and their families in Greater Richmond through school-based and community programs focusing on emotional health, bullying prevention, substance use and trauma.

To protect our community, masks will be required for the in-person event. Both virtual and in-person tickets are available.

If ticket costs are a barrier to attend, please email here4thekids.rva@gmail.com for a promo code to reserve a space to attend.
